THEY HAVE FUNNY NAMES AND PROMISE 12 “MIND-BLOWING” OUNCES.” THEY’RE A NEW LINE OF SOFT DRINKS CONTAINING THC, THE PSYCHOACTIVE INGREDIENT IN MARIJUANA. THE CALIFORNIA MAN WHO CREATED THE POT POP SAYS HIS PHONE’S BEEN RINGING OFF THE HOOK EVER SINCE HE ANNOUNCED HIS PRODUCT.
Clay Butler, Entrepreneur, says: “I just went surfing like I always do on Monday and then I get done and get it my car and my cell phone just starts going off and everyone’s like hey, you’re really popular!”
MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES SAY POT EDIBLES ARE A FAST GROWING SEGMENT OF THE INDUSTRY.
Rich Couch, Herbal Cruz Medical Marijuana Dispensary, says: “One of the biggest side effects of smoking cannabis is the ingesting part. There’s nothing in the cannabis that’s going to harm your lungs but ingesting the plant material can do damage so alot of people want to get the benefits but they don’t want to have to smoke it and that’s why they choose to go with edibles.”
BUTLER HAS RECEIVED SOME CRITICISM FOR CREATING A PRODUCT WHICH COULD BE ATTRACTIVE TO KIDS.
Clay Butler, Entrepreneur, says: “Makes no sense because children can’t get it. You have to have a medical marijuana card and you have to go to the dispensary and see a doctor so I really don’t understand it.”
BUTLER, WHO SAYS HE PERSONALLY DOESN’T USE MARIJUANA, PLANS ON LAUNCHING THE SODA IN COLORADO THIS MONTH, FOLLOWED BY CALIFORNIA LATER THIS YEAR. EVENTUALLY HE HOPES TO SELL IT IN EVERY STATE ALLOWING MEDICAL MARIJUANA. HAVEN DALEY, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, CAPITOLA, CALIFORNIA.
